GPS Elementary School (GP-ES) implements the National Curriculum in conjunction with the Cambridge International Education program.
CURRICULUM
National Curriculum
The National Curriculum 2025 embraces a Deep Learning approach, grounded in three core principles:
-
Mindful learning — students engage with full awareness of what and why they are learning.
-
Meaningful learning — lessons connect with real life, making learning relevant and purposeful.
-
Joyful learning — education is engaging, stress-free, and emotionally uplifting.
The curriculum aims to nurture well-rounded graduates across eight dimensions: faith and piety, citizenship, critical reasoning, creativity, collaboration, independence, health, and communication.
Cambridge International Primary Curriculum
The Cambridge International Primary Curriculum provides students with a solid educational foundation and sets a global benchmark for learning. It prepares them for future academic pathways and offers the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint certification. Flexible, challenging, and inspiring, the curriculum is designed to be culturally sensitive while maintaining an international outlook—nurturing curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

LESSON PLAN

For my practice teaching, I carefully prepared lesson plans that were both structured and creative. I aligned my plans with the curriculum while ensuring they were engaging and age-appropriate.

My teaching plans included:
-
Clear learning objectives that guided both me and my students.
-
Interactive motivation activities (such as games, visuals, and short stories) to capture attention.
-
Step-by-step discussions where students could actively participate instead of just listening. Hands-on activities and group work to encourage cooperation and discovery.
-
Assessment and reflection activities to check understanding and allow students to express what they learned.

One highlight was integrating visual aids and real-life examples into my lessons. For example, during my final demonstration teaching, I used pictures, maps, and Socratic method about their experiences about the city they were living. to make the content more relatable. This approach helped me see how creative planning can truly bring lessons to life.
